Just Mercy | 100 x 100 cm | acrylic on canvas | 2021 | sold
Grace and mercy – two essential components of humanity, which are often lost. Schwien thematizes in this composition with emotional devotion and in incomparable manner the exhausting struggle for justice and love. Love is the mirror of the soul, which you set up to look at yourself and your counterpart unvarnished, without make-up and masquerade. It disillusions without disenchanting. It connects without captivating. Love can be understood as a chaos of emotions into which every person with heart and empathy plunges without hesitation. It is the parachute jump that makes you feel pure ecstasy as you fall. The surface reflects the innumerable facets of the inwardly resting person, who cannot be pigeonholed, as he is endowed with so many emotions that they override everything else. Heritage | 120 x 140 cm | acrylic on canvas | 2019 | not for sale
“Heritage” combines all the beauty of Holstein Switzerland – a picturesque stretch of land in the midst of northern Germany’s natural splendor. Ostholstein is that feeling by the sea. The water. The murmur. The swirling and the bubbling, ruffled by the wind, the mind so empty. Ostholstein, this feeling in the mountains. The valleys and grounds. The rippling of the paths, the fields and meadows, nature so close. Ostholstein, this feeling in the forests. The crackling and cracking, the flowering, the life. On the ground a crawling, the spiders weaving, hidden the lake, dazzled by the dew. Ostholstein, that feeling in the fields, the rustling, the dancing, the thriving and growing, a man in the field, connected to himself. “Heritage” is Schwien’s tribute to a man full of energy, cosmopolitanism, strength and love towards his wife, son and grandchildren. This work brings together all the good and beautiful things that Schwien associates with his grandfather, who spent his entire life in Ostholstein.
La Mélodie De Ma Vie | 130 x 80 cm | acrylic on canvas | 2021 | sold
Every person should be the director of his or her own life. Each person should compose his own quite magical and enchanting melody. “La Mélodie De Ma Vie” is one of my most personal and meaningful works for me. This painting traces the ups and downs that I have experienced to date, that have shaped me, and that have allowed me to become the artist that I am today. This painting reflects pure gratitude for every event, for every encounter and for every second that was given to me. Again, it was an accident to show me that nothing in life – and certainly not life itself – should be taken for granted. As the saying goes: C’est la vie!
